Jewish Philosopher's League Bulletin
from The Jewish Philosopher, November 1937. Edited by FAY SHAPIRO, Historian of the Jewish Philosopher’s League.

OUR GALA AFFAIRS

Our first two dances at the beginning of our organization life were certainly successful. When one considers the conditions under which they were held—we mean the warm season—the response to our undertakings is gratifying. A rich vaudeville program, a dramatized lecture, all topped by a swell dance program—boy! What fun. We’re looking forward to bigger and better affairs in the Fall with our increased membership. And isn’t Webster Hall a grand place to dance?

WE WERE DRENCED BUT HOW WE LIKED IT!

We’ll never forget our boat ride early in August. When a large outpouring can live through a soaking rainstorm, and still come home praising the affair, you have something there. The community gathering in the ball field of the Atlantic Highlands Park for athletic events and entertaining will always remain a memorable scene. And the stout women’s race! Say, who won anyway?

OUR DRAMATIC GROUP

The dramatic group for our younger members is organizing at our first rally for members only. Be prepared to sign up with Jack Luth who will be the group leader. Amateurs preferred. This group shall become the mainstay of our theatrical entertainments. Say! I’ll bet you’re all actors.

ENGLISH AND CITIZENSHIP GROUP

At the first rally for our older members we shall organize a citizenship group for those interested in learning the English language. At that time the leader shall be announced, but begin to sharpen your pencils now.

NOW YOU CAN LEARN TO DANCE

Many of us have not taken advantage of our first-rate orchestra at our dances because we do not dance well or not at all. Well, you can enhance your social personality now, for we intend too have a dancing class for beginners—young and old. Mr. Shimshak is in charge of this group. Sign up with him at our first rallies. He is also asking for trained volunteers, male and female, to assist him in this work. Come on, you dancers!
